A 17-year-old girl who was involved in a two-vehicle crash in Victorville earlier this week died from her injuries this weekend.
According to the story appearing on the Victor Valley News website, the accident involving a gray Dodge Charger and a white Honda happened on Wednesday, July 8th, at approximately 7:10 p.m. at the intersection of Cantins Drive and LaMesa Road.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene to find the driver of the Honda, 17-year-old Alexia Nevalee Aguilar, unresponsive.
Aguilar was transported by ambulance first to Desert Valley Hospital in Victorville but was immediately airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton, California.
According to Sheriff’s spokesperson, Mara Rodriguez, the driver of the Dodge Charger, was uninjured in the accident.
Aguilar’s aunt, Destiny Richmond, told reporters in a statement that the doctors did all that they could to save her niece, but the injuries she suffered in the accident were too severe. The family made the heart-wrenching decision to remove Alexia from life support on Thursday, July 9th. She passed away at approximately :5:32 p.m.
The tragic accident at the newly opened intersection that connects Cantina and La Mesa to U.S. Highway 395 has sparked outrage among the residents of Eagle Ranch. Tina Pratt Lira and Jason Harris told reporters that the two-way stop sign is not enough and that the intersection should have a four-way stop sign or a traffic signal.
The accident is still currently under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT). Anyone with any information about the crash is asked to call the Victorville Police Department at (760) 241-2911.
We, the partners and staff of the Zanes Law Firm, would like to express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Alexia Nevalee Aguilar for their loss.
