It seems we have these types of recalls every year…

But we know how much all of us love our furry friends and it’s important to keep them safe and healthy!

So we wanted you to know:

PetSmart Stores is issuing a pet food recall in nine states and Nevada is on the list according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Blue Buffalo Company is voluntarily recalling Wilderness Wild Chews Bones (cub size) because the dog food has the potential be contaminated with Salmonella.

The affected product was distributed on November 19, 2015 in Pet food stores located in: California, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington. The UPC number is 840243110087 and carries an expiration date of November 4, 2017.

Buyers that have this dog food in the house should check the packaging to determine if the food is tainted and included in the recall…

If it is, we urge you to dispose of the product or return it to the place of purchase to receive a refund!

Salmonella can affect animals that consume the tainted product, but there is also a health risk to humans from handling contaminated products – that means you, pet owner!

It is important to thoroughly wash your hands with hot, soapy water after having contact with the products or any surfaces that were exposed to these contaminated products.

Here are some things to look out for in Salmonella Symptoms in Pets…

If you suspect your pet has consumed any of these products and is displaying symptoms, please contact your veterinarian immediately.

  • Abdominal Pain
  • Decreased Appetite
  • Fever
  • Other symptoms include lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea.

Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect humans and other pets so take your furry loved one to the vet today!

*We understand that Arizona is not one of the listed states with the contaminated food but if you know a loved one with a loved pet in one of these states, pass on the information!
